We exist to lift North Carolina's Black & Brown true majority.

Our mission is to help communities of color claim their power through economic mobility, housing security, public safety and civic engagement. We speak for the #TrueMajority.

Courage and community ignite change.

The New North Carolina Project began with the vision of Dr. Aimy Steele. Fulfilling our mission to spark North Carolina's people of color to claim their power, the organization works to create a groundswell of lifelong voters.

We knew from the start that we'd have to do things differently. Instead of talking at, we listen and collaborate. Rather than ask people of color to adopt white priorities, we show them how to use their power to get their own needs met first.

In the organization's first full year of operations, our community organizers and volunteers knocked on over 60,000 doors, reached over 2 million people by text, and broke the mold with messaging that spoke to fellow people of color "the way we speak at home." NNCP didn't stop there. Joining forces with movement partners we helped to launch democracy fellowships at every HBCU in North Carolina, hosted food drives, clothing drives, register more than 90,000 voters, and held town halls for housing, economic empowerment, education, & healthcare expansion.

That was just the beginning.

The trust built through sustained contact continues to earn authentic insights from stakeholders. These form the basis of the BIPOC Proclamation and its four pillars.

People of COloR NEED PROOF THAT DEMOCRACY CAN WORK FOR THEM

The Four Pillars reflect their priorities.
Delivering is the north star of our work.
